The Story Behind Letters to the Messy Middle

What This Blog Actually Is

Before we dive into the letters, I want to explain something.

Because when people land here, they might think this is just a blog about journaling.

It’s not.

This space was born out of a process that started quietly, privately, and honestly without any intention of sharing it with the world.

For the past year, I wrote in a journal every single day.

Some days it was a paragraph.
Some days it was pages.

Some days it was angry.
Some days it was hopeful.
Some days it was the only place where I could be completely honest with myself.

Those entries became letters.

Letters to my younger self.
Letters to my future self.
Letters to the woman I was becoming.

And eventually, letters to what I now call the messy middle girl.

What the Messy Middle Really Is

The messy middle is the part of life most people hide.

It’s not the “before” story.

It’s not the “after” success story.

It’s the middle.

The part where things are uncomfortable.

Where relationships change.
Where boundaries start appearing.
Where the person you used to be no longer fits, but the person you are becoming still feels unfamiliar.

It’s the space where:

  • you start questioning everything you were taught

  • you begin breaking generational patterns

  • your circle gets smaller

  • your voice gets louder

  • and your life starts rebuilding itself in ways you never expected.

Most people avoid this part.

I decided to document it.

Why I Started Sharing These Letters

For a long time, these letters were private.

They were my way of processing trauma, growth, accountability, and the uncomfortable reality of becoming a different person.

But something started happening when I began talking about pieces of my journey online.

People reached out.

Women who felt like they were losing themselves.
Women who were stuck in relationships they knew weren’t healthy.
Women who were healing but felt completely alone in the process.

They weren’t looking for perfect advice.

They were looking for someone who understood the middle.

Not the highlight reel.

Not the motivational speech.

The real process.

The messy middle.

So one day I started doing something different.

Instead of just writing the letters…

I started reading them out loud.

Why The Videos Came First

At the beginning of this year, I started posting pieces of the journal.

At first, I only shared photos of the pages.

Then about three weeks ago, I started reading the letters out loud on camera.

And something shifted.

People started listening.

Not because the words were perfect.

But because they were honest.

The letters captured moments that most people are too afraid to talk about:

  • breaking toxic cycles

  • rebuilding self-respect

  • learning how to receive healthy love

  • setting boundaries with family

  • and becoming accountable for your own life.

The messy middle isn’t pretty.

But it’s where transformation actually happens.

The Truth About Healing

Healing is not a straight line.

It’s not one big breakthrough moment.

It’s thousands of small moments where you choose something different.

Sometimes that looks like:

  • setting a boundary

  • leaving a relationship

  • admitting you were wrong

  • forgiving yourself

  • or simply showing up again when it would be easier to quit.

For me, the letters became proof of that process.

Proof that change doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens one honest conversation with yourself at a time.

Why This Blog Exists

This blog is simply the written version of those letters.

Some will be emotional.
Some will be uncomfortable.
Some will be empowering.

But all of them are real.

They are here for the woman who is currently in her messy middle. or a man that is guiding a woman away from her messy middle even a friend or family member that maybe going through the messy middle

The woman who knows something in her life needs to change but doesn’t fully know how yet.

If that’s you, I want you to know something:

You are not broken.

You are becoming.

And the messy middle is where that transformation begins.
